The "Big Ideas" Tool
The Big Ideas tool is designed to help students identify the "big ideas" in their discussions and investigations, to evaluate these ideas, and to select those they feel are 'most promising' in terms of helping them to understand a particular problem or issue.
This tool is also being designed so that a group of students working in one classroom, in one part of the world, might be able to explore the ideas of their peers in another class or in another part of the globe. We imagine communities of students sharing ideas across sites and being exposed to a great diversity of ideas and knowledge generated by other students working on similar problems or questions. This video was broadcast on the 2010 Knowledge Building Summer Institute in Toronto for comments and feedback. Please feel free to tell us what you are thinking.
