Laboratory Experience. Knowledge Building Creation in international context. Nature of the challenge. Tomorrow’s Innovators: workshop to experience knowledge creativity

The Knowledge Building International Project (KBIP) is a collaborative project that reaches to many parts of the world: Hong Kong, Québec, Catalunya, Norway, Mexico, Italy, and others.

Under the global theme of climate changes, students are inquiring into the consequences of human activity
on the environment. They communicate together for learning and knowledge building purposes with the support of new technologies.

This year, for the 34th conference of the Association for Teacher Education in Europe (ATEE) which will take place in Majorca, Spain, students from around the world will meet. They will have the opportunity to share and continue their collaborative inquiries this time in the Mallorca caves.

For instance, students have been questioning, inquiring into, and discussing water quality, and their
understanding of it as a key environmental issue.

A collective investigation
During their stay, students who will represent their class, ones that engaged in knowledge building in 2008- 2009, will participate in the Knowledge Building Summer Institute. They will be part of the Tomorrow’s Innovators workshop. At this occasion, they will recall what their class found, identify new questions, and engage in new research on site as they will visit caves in Majorca, and analyse water from the Mediterranean Sea. They will compare their observations, and bring back new data to their local knowledge building communities.
