This paper describes an experiment in which teacher candidates, as part of their teacher education program, mentored a class of fourth grade Knowledge Forum students over the Internet using a new technology called Video Notes. Video Notes are digital video recordings that carry messages between mentors and mentees. They are similar to email messages except the content of each message is a short video clip rather than text. Transcript and interview data suggest that the video notes exchanges may offer advantages over email or videoconferencing as a telementoring technology. Accordingly, it is proposed that Video Notes may be a useful feature to add to future versions of Knowledge Forum.
