This poster presents the Knowledge Building work of a class of grade 2 students as they built knowledge around the question, “What is a Canadian Tradition?” A key aspect of this Knowledge Building work was the identification of the culminating task, in this case the production of a video, at the beginning of the unit. Initial indications suggest that, at least at this grade level, such an approach may actually help to focus students on their Knowledge Building work. This poster will be presented virtually by the teacher using a tele-conferencing system and will include segments of the student produced video along with videotaped interviews of the teacher and entries from the Knowledge Forum® database. Also, students from this class will be on-hand to answer any questions about their knowledge building work.
